Procedure for Treating Endometriosis

At our practice, we use laparoscopy to treat endometriosis. Our specialist will advise you not to eat or drink for at least 8 hours before the procedure. The treatment is usually done under anesthesia, although you can request to stay awake if a local or spinal anesthetic is available.

Our specialist performs the procedure by inflating the abdomen with nitrous oxide or carbon dioxide). The gas is injected with a needle and pushes the abdominal wall away from your organs so that our team of experts can see them. Our trusted team then inserts a laparoscope through a small cut and inspects your internal organs.

Additionally, we use incisions to insert instruments to move your internal organs and structures for better viewing. This procedure does not usually take more than 45 minutes. Suppose endometriosis or scar tissue needs to be taken out. In that case, our specialist will use one of the various techniques, including cutting and removing tissue or, in some cases,  destroying it with an electric current or laser beam. Our trusted team seals the abdominal cuts with a few stitches when the procedure is done.

In most cases, there is no scar. Sometimes our experienced team requires a hospital stay of 1 day. You will likely be able to return to your daily activities in 1 week.
